![]() ![]() Message Edited by helmut. Are there serial driver "serial.sys" availablle to download to fix this bug ?ģ. ![]() Is this or a similar problem known a DELL ?Ģ. The operating system on the DELL D510/610/810 is Windows XP / SP2ġ. This problem is very heavy with DELL D510/610, but with DELL D810 is it not so frequently ! Often we receive a incorrect response telegram, because we could analyse by an analyzer (serial monitor) that the driver serial.sys (Windows) lose 3 characters of the response telegram. ![]() Our tool's protocol sends a request telegram to the serial port via the Windows driver serial.sys and receive afterwards a response telegram back via the driver serial.sys to our communication tool. As laptops come without serial-ports so you need an extra cable USB to Serial-Port Cable (USB-to-Serial adapter). 20pcs Serial Port Connector RS232 DR9 9-Pin Adapter Male. For the communication between PC and the CNC control, we are using a communication tool with a determined protocol to exchange data by the serial port (RS232). latest products,Shop Authentic,Upgrade does not raise price,Free Delivery and Returns,Fast. On the other hand, I DID find a *PCIe* expresscard to parallel adapter for ~$80, but I moved on to other things without ever getting around to seeing if it would work.We are using many DELL D510/D610/810 (Latitude) to communicate by the serial port with a external device (CNC control). The one option I did find in the way of USB to LPT was this, which it looks like you'd have to build yourself (doesn't look like anyone's selling them anymore), and the creator actually cautions against using it for certain CNC applications. Using anything USB also assumes that the OP's running an OS that will have proper driver support, which may or may not be the case if it's an old CNC setup with old software. VXD that I think MIGHT have produced a virtual LPT port, but I didn't have any interest in installing win9x just to find out. So unlike most USB to serial adapters which present a COM port to the OS, you do NOT get an LPT port-which means that anything that expects one simply won't work. If you plan on using a laptop (not recommended) you can try to find a PCMCIA parallel adapter, but many people have frequent issues with this setup. I went through a similar situation a while ago, and the problem is that every off-the-shelf USB to Parallel adapter I found used the USB printer class exclusively. If your computer does not have a parallel port, all you will need is a low cost PCI parallel adapter card (these can be found on amazon for 15-20). No parallel port though, but I bet you could find a parallel to USB adapter of some sorts.
